Term 2 SWPBS Focus - Respect

Kindness, Responsibility, Resilience.

School Vision:

Our school’s vision is to prepare young people to become active, engaged and responsible citizens of the local and global community.

  • We will provide a safe, calm and welcoming learning environment where every child is treated as an individual.

  • We will develop children who have a strong relationship to school and their community. The children will have a sense of self & understand how they learn.

  • We will build and support an open, healthy and welcoming community that is visible in its practical support for the learning and wellbeing of each child. Children will be encouraged to embrace and celebrate difference and they will experience positive interactions with adults.

  • We aim to foster a love of and for our natural environment and nurture a strong sense of stewardship within our students.  Eppalock PS prioritises environmental sustainability.

This week is Education Week at Eppalock PS.  We have a couple of different events on during the week.

On Monday night from 6:00pm-6:30pm we have our Information Night for 2023 prospective families.  Please make any friends or family aware of this event if they are interested in enrolling at Eppalock PS in 2023.  We have had a few families take advantage of individual tours already which is fantastic.  It is good to come along on this night and maybe even meet other prospective families and chat with staff about how best to meet the individual needs of your children.  Once enrolment forms are submitted, the school can begin working with families to plan the best transition process for next year.

On Wednesday morning from 9:00am-11:00am we will have our Open Morning.  All families and friends, special persons and prospective families are welcome to visit the school during this time.  Classes will have some activities in action which allows for easy participation from visitors.  We will also have the Coffee Storm Van on site for the first hour of the day for adults to take advantage of.

We have a whole school excursion on Friday so will not be holding a Back to School assembly on Friday, however will hold a regular assembly on Thursday morning.  This will be hosted by our School Captains inside the building starting at 9:05am.

Reminders

  • Friday June 10th is student free day.
  • We have a number of excursions planned for this term. Please ensure notes are returned and that students are at school on time for the bus for these events.
  • The weather is getting a bit cooler. Please ensure students have warm clothes at school and that it is named.
  • Staff duty of care operates from 8:45am-9:00am in the mornings and from 3:15pm-3:30pm at the end of the school day.
  • Breakfast club this week will be on Thursday 26th. Operating from 8:15am-8:45am.
  • After school care operates every day from 3:15pm-6:00pm and can be booked through Ourpatch.
  • We have some second hand school tables at school which families can take.
  • We also have some awnings which school can no longer use on our buildings. Let me know if you would like to know more about these.

Volunteers At School

It is great to have a few regular volunteers back in the classrooms and across the school now that Covid regulations are easing.  Class teachers are looking for some parents who would like to help out with reading groups or maths groups during the week if you are interested.  We would also love some help with Breakfast Club, library area, or even some regular garden maintenance if these are your areas of expertise.

Election Weekend

Thanks to everyone who was involved in helping out with the election weekend BBQ and Cake stall activities at school.  A lot of work and organisation goes into something like this and we really appreciate the support of our parent community.

Grounds and Maintenance Upcoming works

In the next couple of weeks we will have some of the much loved elements of our playground area repaired or replaced.  School Council was able to obtain some funds from Fosterville Gold Mine late last year which has allowed the school to do these repairs, as well as replace the shade sail over the playground.  A new slide and flying fox will be part of what is done.

School Council are also in the process of looking into removing the bell tree to ensure the area is safe for our school community.  The plan is to use the tree trunk somewhere in the school and reinstall the old bell in a prominent position where it can continue to be used.

Term 2 Social Events
Bus Tour (parents only) organizing for Saturday June 25th
We are out & about again to see what the region around us has to offer.
Bring a partner or friend along & get to know some of the Parent community at Eppalock.
One of the reasons we offer some "grown ups only" social event is to give you the chance to chat & make some connections without being on parent duty.

More to come in the next couple of weeks around times journey & costs.

If your interested & would like to get involved with planning this one let Kelly Nunns, Alicia Martin or Nikki Mannes know & we'll join you in on the planning.

A majority of people wanted to be contacted via email followed by facebook & educate us.
If you chose email, could you please send an email from your preferred account to knunnseps@outlook.com

Term 2 Fundraiser
Election Day BBQ & Cake Stall -
Thank you to all of our wonderful families for baking away ready for Election Day, & those who took a shift on the BBQ stall, or popped in to support the stall on their way to vote.
With all those lovely baked goods we might have to start an Eppalock cook book.
Massive thank you to Nikki for organising the fundraiser, on top of her already busy days.

Special Lunch Day - Bottomless Cup of Soup - 9t
h June
Our next special lunch day, will be the very popular bottomless cup of soup day (my personal favorite)

If you have a favorite soup recipe you would love to make for our young ones & staff, or would like to help serve on the day, please contact Brittany Edwards.

Parent Community Meetings

The next meeting will be Friday 4th June
I'd say we may do a friday pub lunch for the next meeting if anyone is interested, let Kelly Nunns know, in person, via face book or e-mail.

If you have some input, or feedback please message me on face book or email knunnseps@outlook.com

What’s Parent Community all about?
The best news is you don't have to join, if you have children at the school, you are already part of our Parent Community.

Basically, once a month we meet up & look at what social events & fundraisers we would like to achieve throughout the year.

Simple tasks like showing up or being the contact for a gathering, to booking the bowling club or organizing sausages or bread are typically as hard as it gets.

Meetings are held in the old school building, staff room or at the pub & always involve a chat & either a cuppa or lunch depending on time or location.

For more information talk to Kelly Nunns (Lexi and Ethan's Mum) or Alicia Martin (Connor, Jacob & Max's Mum) or Nikki in the office (Charlie's Mum).
