EPS Newsletter Week 10

FROM THE PRINCIPAL Term 1 Week 9

End of Term

The end of term is slowly creeping up on us! On the last Thursday the 6th, we have an early dismissal at 1:30. Student can come in casual clothes on this day. Friday the 7th is Good Friday.

School Wide Positive Behaviours Feedback

Thank you to the families who have provided feedback into our School Wide Positive Behaviour Matrix form. We are nearing the point of collating the feedback and providing this information back to the students and community. A follow up email has been sent regarding the form, so please take a few minutes to help shape our future direction regarding the Positive Behaviour Support Framework.

Athletics Day with Axedale and Heathcote Primary Schools- April 28th

On Friday 28th April we will be heading to Bendigo to compete with Axedale and Heathcote at the LaTrobe University Athletics track. Students have been training hard in preparation for the day and we are looking forward to the day. We require parents/carers to help maintain the events, ours being the long jump and triple jump. Parents/volunteers who are supporting these activities will be able to be out on the oval, for those who are not helping and don’t have WWCC they will need to watch from outside the arena fence. Each school is asking for support from their parent/carer community to support the smooth running of this event. If you are able to help out with the events, please let Andrew know in order to develop a parent roster.

To comply with our Child Safe policy, all parents/carers/volunteers who work with our students will require a Working With Children Check. These checks are available free for volunteers. If you don’t have a current WWCC, please follow the link to apply –

ANZAC Day- Legacy

Next Wednesday, the school Captains and Mr King are travelling to Melbourne via bus to attend the ANZAC Day Legacy Ceremony. We look forward to representing EPS at this event and learning more about the ANZAC traditions and deepening our understanding of ANZAC Day.

Parent Teacher Interviews

What a fantastic turnout for parent teacher interviews. A big thank you to both families and teachers for ensuring that the conversations were very positive and student centred. The feedback that families have provided have helped staff gain a deeper understanding of children and their needs. It has also been an opportunity to share how the teachers and school can better support families at home. If you were unable to make it, please contact the school as soon as possible and this can be arranged.

Walk to School Day and Brekkie

On Friday the 31st, we are having a Walk to School Day. We will meet at the old shearing shed at 8:15 AM, apologies for the misinformation in previous newsletters. It is roughly a 1.5 kilometre walk back to school. We would love families to attend this walk and come on the morning to share in this experience. Once we get back to school, we are going to have breakfast here.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting will take place on March 30th, this meeting is open to the public where the Annual Report will be presented. If families would like to come along for this meeting, the AGM will begin at 6:30PM. Once this is over, our normal School Council meeting will begin.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

In the last MARC session of Term 1 we will be sharing the recently launched Dragon Dance by local Bendigo author Lauren Mitchell and illustrator Geoff Hocking.

This is a story of the 3 years that the Chinese Dragons couldn’t be part of the Easter celebrations. How fabulous that we have a book written about our local experience of Covid (and then the weather!)

If you would like your own copy of Dragon Dance, pop into Bookish on Hargreaves St and chat the wonderful Wendy and Wendy😊

Sunny and Nai Nai can't wait for their town's annual dragon parade. But when the loongs don't wake up, Sunny must find a way to save the family tradition.

Dragon Dance is a story of hope, resilience and creativity, and a celebration of the much-loved Chinese dragons on the Australian goldfields.

At Eppalock PS we require any volunteers to have a current WWCC.

These checks are free for Volunteers.
PLEASE CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR WWCC IS CURRENT AND THAT WE HAVE A COPY OF IT HERE AT THE SCHOOL.  I HAVE JUST UPDATED OUR FILES AND WE HAVE A LOT THAT ARE NO LONGER CURRENT GOING BY OUR RECORDS.
