Term 3 Week 7 2023

FROM THE PRINCIPAL Term 3 Week 7

STEM Superhero Day

Thanks to all the families and friends who attended the STEM Superhero morning last Friday. It was great to have families involved and engaging the students work, they certainly had a lot to be proud of.

OSHC Program

Our OHSC (after school care) program is back up and running. All information regarding booking was sent out via uEducateUs last week. Nadine will be the primary contact for our OHSC program here at EPS while Kerrie will support Nadine in her role. This program is a wonderful opportunity for our school and we would encourage all families to complete the registration process just in case the service is needed.

Wooden Circles

We are seeking any parents or family members who work with wood and can provide circular shaped wooden cut off that can be used to hang around the school. We are tyring to enhance the natural play space look of the school and we were hoping to paint the circular shaped discs with the letters of the alphabet first and many other ideas. If you can donate any wooden discs (anywhere from 15-30 centimetres in diameter), please contact the school.

Hobbies and Clubs

A big thank you to all the families who were able to come in and donate their time and skills for this round of hobbies and clubs. This round we had rope tying, baking, gardening and oyster shucking for pearls as the activities on offer. Again, this couldn’t have happened without the immense support we have from out families so many thanks.

Parent Opinion Survey

Thank you to the families who have completed the Parent Opinion Survey, we are now sitting at 22% of the community. The website and pin to access the survey were sent via UeducateUs last week so if you have a spare 15 to 20 minutes, we would love to get families input into how EPS is operating. Please keep in mind that the survey is entirely confidential and only one person per household is encouraged to complete it.

MARC Van Book Parade

On Wednesday, August 23rd, we will have a parade in the morning followed by a day of book fun! Dig through the dress up box and come as your favourite character. We encourage families to not purchase items for the parade, we would love to see some created pieces from things already within your homes.

Curriculum Day- Student Portfolios

On Monday, September 4th, we are having a curriculum day and inviting students and families in for student led interviews and portfolios. This is a wonderful opportunity to have all families and students meet with their child’s classroom teacher and discuss the learning portfolios that students have been working on this term. Families will be able to book a time to come into school via the uEducateUs platform. Students will be showcasing a few different learning activities from Literacy, Numeracy and Integrated units of work over the term. More information regarding bookings will be communicated via the newsletter.

Planning for 2024

We are beginning to plan for 2024 and are asking families to provide any changes in student enrolment information to the school as soon as possible.

Old Tree Bell

Due to OHS, the old tree bell must be taken down. While this tree hold symbolism for many families at EPS, the need for removal is due to safety concerns with the tree. At this point, we are investigating a new position for the old bell and are open to suggestions from the community. There is no set date at this point however we would like the community to be aware of this. Once a determined date and plan for the bell is developed, the information will be passed onto families. When the tree is removed, it will become a feature in the base for all students to enjoy.
