Numeracy

At Eppalock Primary School, Numeracy is taught for at least one hour daily for all year levels, this will usually occur after the recess break from 11:30am-12:30pm where the timetable allows.

In 2022 staff are working collaboratively to develop an Eppalock PS Instructional Model for Numeracy, which will follow a similar structure to our Literacy Model.

Staff use a range of assessments and data sets to ensure students are able to receive point of need teaching either through 1:1 assistance or small group work with students of similar needs.

A variety of approaches are used by teachers and include targeted teaching; skill building games, investigations and technology.

Students may also be included in our Tutoring program for extra support throughout the year.

There is a strong emphasis on problem solving and students are given many opportunities to use and apply mathematics in real life situations.
