Term 4 Week 12 2023

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - Term 4, Week 12 2023

Happy Holidays

Thanks to all the students, families and community partners of EPS for a wonderful year this year. We have loved all that 2023 had to offer. Have a marvellous and well-deserved break and we look forward to having everyone back for 2024.

Term One, 2024- Start Date

Next year, we have a Curriculum Day booked in for the Tuesday the 30th of January. This means that students are not in on the day and their first day back will be on Wednesday the 31st. The 2024 Preps first day will be on Thursday, February 1st.

Annie North- Donations & Thank You

On Friday afternoon we delivered our school's donations to Annie North, the Bendigo refuge for women and children.

We met with three representatives from their organisation.  They told us about Annie North and the work that they do. Just that morning some families had arrived that needed some socks and jocks so our donations would be immediately used! They loved the Christmas items and baubles too. They said that they would add to some of their client Christmas tables and add some joy.

They were very grateful for our school thinking about families that might be escaping unsafe situations at this time of year and how they would be in need. They said to pass on a very big thank you!

The ladies were very surprised by how much we had brought in.  Dropping off the donations, being at their refuge and speaking with the ladies, gave us a really good feeling and made us feel proud that we were helping them.

On Monday lunchtime we are delivering the boxes of donated food items (3 HUGE boxes - thanks everyone!) to Foodshare. We are excited to do this drop off as well.

2024 3-6 Urban Camp

Our Grades Three to Six will head to Melbourne next year for an Urban Camp. The camp will be from Wednesday, June 5th to Friday, June 7th. A uEducateUs permission note will be created today, if your child is intending on going, please give permission as soon as possible. We are requesting $100 first payment be made between today and Friday the 16th of February 2024 via the MySchoolConnect app.

Bus Role

Please contact the school if you need to update the method in which your child/ren travel home from school. If there are changes on the day, please make sure that you call the school to ensure that we have received the message.

The bus management system has also sent out emails for 2024 bus travel. Please follow the instructions given in these emails to approve your child’s travel for 2024.

2024 Curriculum Contributions

While the curriculum contributions are voluntary, they play a vital role in our schools’ ability to resource all aspects of our curriculum. Without this funding, we would not be able to source computers, library books, online learning platforms and STEM equipment for our students so a big thank you to all families who have already paid this for 2024.

Communication

A reminder to please use appropriate communication channels through uEducateUs and email when queries arise about school events. While there are staff on the parents Facebook page, please contact the school via suitable channels.

Working With Children Check

The Working with Children Check is a screening process for assessing or re-assessing people who work with or care for children in Victoria.

At Eppalock PS we require any volunteers to have a current WWCC.

These checks are free for Volunteers.
PLEASE CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR WWCC IS CURRENT AND THAT WE HAVE A COPY OF IT HERE AT THE SCHOOL.  I HAVE JUST UPDATED OUR FILES AND WE HAVE A LOT THAT ARE NO LONGER CURRENT GOING BY OUR RECORDS.

Please remember that you cannot help out with any school activities unless you have a current WWCC

Please follow this link to apply for a WWCC
