Term 1 Week 4 2024

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - TERM 1, WEEK 4, 2024

Old Tree Bell

An arborist examined the old tree bell Thursday afternoon as it had previously been flagged as a potential danger. Post examination, we were informed that the old tree bell tree was extremely unsafe. This meant this tree posed immediate and significant danger to the students, staff and families. While this was previously mentioned via the newsletter last year, due to the rapid degradation of the tree, the decision was made to remove the tree immediately.

Although the tree carries a long tradition and symbolism, the immediate danger it posed meant the area had to be sectioned off and the tree removed.

I do apologise immensely that this could not have been done in a more strategic process and students and community given time to ring the bell however given the imminent danger it posed, community safety had to be prioritised.

School Council will work in conjunction with the students and community to generate ideas on how the old bell can be remounted. If you have any ideas that you’d like to suggest, please contact Andrew or Alicia.
