Term 3 Week 2 2024

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - TERM 3, WEEK 2, 2024

Potato Olympics

Our classroom teachers have been working extremely hard to make these next blocks of learning fun, engaging and hands on. They have developed the ‘Potato Olympics’ which begin with an opening ceremony on Monday the 29th from 2:45PM. They would love to have families come along to the event if possible. Student will introduce their potato Olympian they have created and will go over the timetable of events. If you are free during that time, please come into our Opening Ceremony.

100 Days of School

On Friday the 26th, Shaylee has organised a fantastic day of activities and fun for all Prep to Two students. This day is looking like it will be very exciting and joyful so thanks to Shaylee for all the work organising this event.

5/6 Netball

Best wishes to our 5/6 Netball team this Wednesday the 24th  who are competing at Red Energy Centre against the other schools. Thanks to Katie Becker for volunteering to umpire the tournament, it is much appreciated.

5/6 Football

On Tuesday the 30th, our 5/6s are playing football at Kennington Primary School. We are teaming up with Axedale PS to create both a boys’ and girls’ team. More information about the day will be made over the coming days to families.

2025 Prep Enrolment

Just a reminder that if you know of anyone or are planning on enrolling your child at into Prep for 2025, please ensure that you have filled in all the relevant enrolment info and handed it back to Nikki by this Friday.

Lockdown Practice

On Friday afternoon, all students participated in a practice drill in case we ever needed to have a lockdown. It was great to see all students participate in a responsible manner and get back to all classroom quickly and carefully.

Computer Club

We have put a temporary stop to our Wednesday computer club. This is a trial as we are encouraging students to be active outside when possible, especially in these colder wetter months where we may be inside due to poor weather.

Parent Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school.
The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

All families are invited to participate in the survey. The survey will be open from July 26th to August 30th. The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. Please contact the office if you would like more information.

Old Tree Bell

Work is happening in this space and the bell is currently undergoing a restoration. Student feedback was sought into the re-design and location of the bell. Numerous plans were submitted, outlining various new ‘tree’ themed ideas as well as a few arches. School Council are currently working through the deign phase of the bell, a special thanks to Kevin Reade and Tim Arnold who are generously helping through the construction design. Watch this space!

Sue Lawson- CRT

Sue Lawson is backfilling Lydia over the next few weeks and working across the school in all classrooms. Sue is an experienced teacher that spent some time teaching in Northern Australia and is bringing along some learning programs from her experience. If you see Sue over the next two weeks, please say hello and make her feel welcome.
