Book Week Parade- Friday, August 23rd

Although Sue Gentry is away, we are still very excited to celebrate Book Week and will have our annual parade on Friday August 23^rd. We will have a parade in the morning followed by activities in each classroom centred around Book Week! Dig through the dress up box and come as your favourite character. We encourage families to not purchase items for the parade, we would love to see some created pieces from things already within your homes. We would love to see not just the students, but parents get involved as well. So feel free to come dressed up on the morning for our parade in the Serenity Garden followed by pictures.

 

Musical Production- From Tan

We are very excited to officially announce our E.P.S production date and time! It will be held on Thursday 17^th October at 6:30pm at the Mandurang Hall. All students will be involved and we’d love as many community members as possible to be able to come and watch so pop the date in your diary and feel free to spread the word amongst family and friends.

Community Help

If anyone is interested in helping out with making and painting sets and props, please send Tan an email @ tania.rusbridge@education.vic.gov.au  We’re planning on doing regular sessions on Fridays after assembly (most likely in the Art Shed – TBC) for the next few weeks, starting this Friday 16^th. If Fridays don’t suit, there’s also the option to delegate certain items and people could pop in at a time that suits them to work on it.

There will also be other jobs we’d love help with e.g. catering, costume support, prompt, props/backstage, set up & clean up so if any of those appeal, please let me know!

 

Smoking Ceremony

We have been involved in the Koorie Curriculum Cluster Project since last year. As part of this project, we are working closely with our Registered Aboriginal Parties and the Dja Dja Wurrung. On Monday the 26^{th August} at 9AM, there will be a Smoking Ceremony here at EPS. While there will be more details to come, we would love to have our community on site for the day.

 

HDFNL Clean Up- Sunday September 8th

This year, we are participating in the Heathcote District Football Netball League Grand Final Clean Up Day. This day occurs on after the Grand Final is played in Heathcote and generally takes around 2 hours to clean up from the Grand Final. This year, the money used from the day will go towards supporting our Epparock Musical Production.

 

Writers Festival

Just a reminder that all 3-6 students are travelling into Bendigo this Friday for Writer’s Festival. Please ensure that permission notes are signed via UeducateUs.

Olympic Soup Extravaganza

Although the name of the event is quite the mouthful, the soups on offer will not mirror the name! The Parent’s Club are organsing a soup day on Wednesday the 21^st for all the students. Please have a read through the Parent’s Club section of the newsletter for more information.

We are beginning to plan for 2025 and are asking families to provide any changes in student enrolment information to the school as soon as possible.

*Camps, Sports and Excursion Fund (CSEF) notes were sent home last week to everyone. Please note that these forms only need to be sent back in if you have a Concession card.  The consession card must be in a parents name and not the students. The form also needs to be filled out with the correct details that are on the card or it will not be accepted. 

**BUS/PICK-UP Form - These forms were sent home to everyone and everyone needs to send them back please.  It's not just for bus travellers.  We need to know how your children are getting home BUS/PARENTS/DTZ.  

***Medical forms - All families will recieve a form that needs to be filled out and sent back if you child has any medical history.  Even if you think we have all the information we still need you to fill it out so we can cross reference to make sure we have the most up to date information about your childs medical history.  This includes any diagnoses. 


2026 Curriculum Contributions and Voluntry Contributions can be pd via MSC.  Thankyou to those that have already paid.  These contributions help to go towards the cost of implementing the programs the students use every day.   
                           

HATS 

Hats are required in TERM 1 and can be purchased via MSC anytime.  We now also have a larger size hat that can be purchased through the MSC site.  
Hats and Beanies will still be required to buy through MY SCHOOL CONNECT until we have no stock on site then we will have hats and beanies available on the new EDUTHREADS uniform store.

                                          FRIDAY AUGUST 23RD - 8.15am - 9am

Calling all those who nurture, support & care for our students in a fathering role!
This year we would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge all that you do! Some EPS mums with the support of a few students will be offering a complementary cuppa and croissant Friday August 23rd 8:15am to 9:00am.

If you have a take away cup at home please bring it in otherwise one will be provided. Please feel free to grab and go if you need to be somewhere or hang around and watch the Book Week Parade. Just remember that as always the schools duty of care for students doesn't commence till 8:45am.

The Working with Children Check is a screening process for assessing or re-assessing people who work with or care for children in Victoria. 

At Eppalock PS we require any volunteers to have a current WWCC.

These checks are free for Volunteers.  PLEASE CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR WWCC IS CURRENT AND THAT WE HAVE A COPY OF IT HERE AT THE SCHOOL.  I HAVE JUST UPDATED OUR FILES AND WE HAVE A LOT THAT ARE NO LONGER CURRENT GOING BY OUR RECORDS.
