Term 3 Week 8 2024

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - TERM 3, WEEK 8, 2024

Bike Hike is Back- Permission Note on UeducateUs

* PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE and A NEW PERMISSION FORM WILL NEED TO BE FILLED OUT VIA UEDUCATEUS.  PLEASE ALSO LET LYDIA KNOW IF YOU CAN BE A PARENT VOLUNTEER ON THE DAY

On Friday 13th September Grade 3-6 can participate in a Bike Hike from Longlea to Axedale and back (approx. 16km). Any 3-6’s not participating in the Bike Hike will come to school on the day and can participate in a Wheely Fun Day with a scooter if they prefer.

To ensure that students are able to feel successful on the day - please have a think about and discuss with your child whether they will be able to complete the ride - approximately 8km each way with breaks along the way and lunch at the Campaspe River.  Please consider if your child will be able to ride this distance, as the options for pick up mid-ride are limited. There are lots of stops on the way, it is a flat ride 8km one way.  Most students should be able to complete this if they would like to -  also ensure your child’s bike is in good riding condition for the ride. Children must have a geared bike - BMX's and kids bikes are not appropriate for this ride as the children tire too quickly.

Your child, with bike and helmet will need to be dropped off at the O’Keefe Rail Trail at Peppercorn Park on Longlea Lane at 9am on Friday 13th September and picked up at 2.30 from the same spot.

We will begin riding at 9.30am and return at 2.30pm.

Parents are welcome to ride with their child – please let us know if you are coming along in comments on the permission note, the more the merrier!  You will need to have supplied the school with a copy of a current Working With Children Check prior to the day.

Community Help

If anyone is interested in helping out with making and painting sets and props, please send me an email. We’re planning on doing regular sessions on Fridays after assembly (most likely in the Art Shed – TBC) for the next few weeks.  If Fridays don’t suit, there’s also the option to delegate certain items and people could pop in at a time that suits them to work on it.

There will also be other jobs we’d love help with e.g. catering, costume support, prompt, props/backstage, set up & clean up so if any of those appeal, please let me know!

School Bonus Payment

Families will recieve some information and forms home that they will need to fill out and return to school ASAP.  The forms are so we can make sure we have the correct contact details for our parents as the department will be using this information to send out an email in regards to the $400 school bonus payment. (This email will go to PARENT A only) At this stage we don't have a lot of information regarding these payments but will continue to inform our familes once we know.

HDFNL Clean Up- Sunday September 8th

* THIS COMING SUNDAY.  WE ARE STILL NEEDING 5 MORE FAMILIES TO HELP OUT, PLEASE LET US KNOW VIA THE UEDUCATEUS NOTE IF YOU CAN HELP ON THE DAY

This year, we are participating in the Heathcote District Football Netball League Grand Final Clean Up Day. This day occurs after the Grand Final is played at the Huntly Football and Netball grounds and generally takes around 1-2 hours to clean up from the Grand Final. We will begin the clean-up at 8AM. This year, the money used from the day will go towards supporting our musical production.  We will meet for a coffee/breakfast somewhere after as well.

$1,000 raised Sunday morning! Well done to the families that attended the HDFNL clean-up bright and early on Sunday. It was a job done well and relitively quickly as we worked together as a team. Rewarded ourselves with breaky at Maccas at the end. Thanks to the Beckers, Magiltons, Haws, Halls, Nunns, Mannes' and the Martins for giving up a little bit of their Sunday!

School of Gepparock

Eppalock Primary School 2024 Production was an epic success.  We laughed, we cried, we sang along as the students of Eppalock Primary school wowed us with their production, School of Gepparock, in front of a sold out crowd.
Summary:

"Take a lumbering stroll to the countryside and step into the delightful community of Gepparock Primary School (G.P.S) where a very ordinary Friday unexpectedly, and rather suddenly, becomes quite extraordinary. Do the staff and students have what it takes to overcome the colossal challenge they are faced with? Join them in this compelling musical tale to find out!"
