Term 3 Week 9 2024

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - TERM 3, WEEK 9, 2024

Grand Final Clean Up

A big thank you to all the families who were able to lend a hand yesterday at the Huntly Footy Grounds. By all reports, the morning was a success and these funds raised will be used to go towards the cost of the lighting and technology for our production.

5/6 Basketball

We had a great day out on Friday at the red Energy Centre. All the students who went our participated enthusiastically and confidently showcased their integrity and determination. Over the course of the day, all students improved so much and worked marvellously as a team.

Bike Hike

This Friday, September 13th, Grades 3-6 can participate in a Bike Hike from Longlea to Axedale and back (approx. 16km). Any 3-6’s not participating in the Bike Hike will come to school on the day and can participate in a Wheely Fun Day with a scooter if they prefer.

To ensure that students are able to feel successful on the day - please have a think about and discuss with your child whether they will be able to complete the ride - approximately 8km each way with breaks along the way and lunch at the Campaspe River.  Please consider if your child will be able to ride this distance, as the options for pick up mid-ride are limited. There are lots of stops on the way, it is a flat ride 8km one way.  Most students should be able to complete this if they would like to -  also ensure your child’s bike is in good riding condition for the ride. Children must have a geared bike - BMX's and kids bikes are not appropriate for this ride as the children tire too quickly.

Your child, with bike and helmet will need to be dropped off at the O’Keefe Rail Trail at Peppercorn Park on Longlea Lane at 9am on Friday the 13th and picked up at 2.30 from the same spot.

We will begin riding at 9.30am and return at 2.30pm.

Parents are welcome to ride with their child – please let us know if you are coming along in comments on the permission note, the more the merrier!  You will need to have supplied the school with a copy of a current Working With Children Check prior to the day.

Prep ½ Stayback

This Thursday night is our Pre/1/2 Stay back. The students will stick around for a fun afternoon with the connected circus followed by some pizza and a movie. We look forward to sharing this fun event with our Prep-Two students.

Swimming in Term Four

We are in the process of getting our swimming lessons sorted. Gurri Wanyarra has sent through a digital form for families to fill in regarding their child and their swimming ability. This will help them to ensure that all children are placed in the correct level. This will come through as a link from uEducateUs.

Hats- SunSmart Policy

It’s that time of year again where we are requesting that all students, please wear a hat to school as part of our SunSmart policy. Can all families please ensure their child’s name is clearly written on the inside of the hat? Hats are available to purchase via My School Connect App for $15 - Nikki will name them and give them to your child as soon as the order comes through.

End of Term

We will finish school on Friday the 20th at 1:30PM.

PRODUCTION UPDATE! From Tan

POSTER COMP

Wow, what amazing entries we had for our production poster competition. Such creativity and hard work has gone into each one. Congratulations to Frankie James on having her poster selected to be used for our main promotions! We will make sure each of the designs are used in some way. They are on display in the shared learning space if you'd like to check them out.

TICKETING

Ticketing for our 'School of Gepparock' production is ready! There will be no cost to come along but we do need to know numbers so we can make sure there will be enough chairs. The sooner we get an idea of numbers the better, so click on the link below to order your tickets! Invite family and friends!

VOLUNTEER ROLES

We still need lots of help with different roles in the lead up to the production and also on the night. I will send out a note on UEducateus outlining these, please let me know if you can assist with any.

PROPS MAKING THURSDAY

9am-11am this week due to Bike Hike/Wheels Day

WHOLE SCHOOL REHEARSAL WEDNESDAY 11:30am!

The kids are doing a fantastic job learning their songs and practising their parts. There's lots of excitement around and hopefully some of the songs are being sung around the house, and if so not driving you too crazy. It will be great to put all the bits and pieces together on Wednesday and for the students to get a greater understanding of what it's all about.

School of Gepparock

Eppalock Primary School 2024 Production was an epic success.  We laughed, we cried, we sang along as the students of Eppalock Primary school wowed us with their production, School of Gepparock, in front of a sold out crowd.
Summary:

"Take a lumbering stroll to the countryside and step into the delightful community of Gepparock Primary School (G.P.S) where a very ordinary Friday unexpectedly, and rather suddenly, becomes quite extraordinary. Do the staff and students have what it takes to overcome the colossal challenge they are faced with? Join them in this compelling musical tale to find out!"
