Welcome to 2025
We would like to welcome all families and students back to EPS for the 2025 school year. We trust that everyone had a great holiday and spent time recharging their batteries for this year. We have started the school year brilliantly and we are all extremely excited to be working with students and families across 2025. Although only here for two days, the students have come back settled and are enjoying rekindling relationships and developing positive work habits and routines.
uEducateUs App
Please ensure that you have downloaded the uEducateUs app. This app is vital for families at EPS as it contains many functions that we use to communicate. On the app, you can mark attendance, read communications, view and give permission to events and view student reports.
School Captains 2025
This Friday, our 2025 school captains, Charlotte and Eadie, will organise and run their first assembly. This assembly is their official badge presentation and is a significant event for our captains as they take on this role for 2025. We have the greatest confidence in both Eadie and Charlotte and look forward watching them lead this year.
House Captains 2025
This Friday, all three house captains will be presented their badges as well. We look forward to seeing our House Captains develop their leadership skills and take on new roles around EPS.
Hats and Drink Bottles
It was great to see almost all students arriving to school with a broad brimmed, Eppalock Primary School hat to wear outdoors. Please ensure that your child’s hat is clearly named in case it does get misplaced. The warm weather is well and truly sticking around so also please make sure that your child/ren come to school with a clearly named drink bottle that is filled with water.
Thank You Summer Helpers
A huge thank you to all the families who put their hands up to help around the school over the summer holidays. The strong Eppalock community spirit is truly alive and well and we would like to thank all of you for helping with weeding, feeding the chooks, watering or any other jobs.
Home Reading Program
Our home reading program begins today and all classroom teachers have discussed the routines for home reading. Although the programs and day-to-day operations may differ from room to room, the expectation of home reading is consistent across the school. If families would like any support with ways in which they can support their children with home reading, please feel free to contact the classroom teachers.
Start Up Interviews
We are having our start up interviews on Thursday the 13th of February. Interviews can be booked via the uEducateUs platform from Thursday the 6th. We are running interviews from 12PM-6PM on the Thursday so please ensure that you book a spot to have a chat with your child’s classroom teacher.
Community Night- Crazy Bingo
A quick plug for our first community gathering this Friday in the Serenity Garden. Bring your own dinner/drinks and chairs but be ready for a whirlwind of fun. Please check the Parent Club Page for more information.
Parent Club 2025
We would like to recognise Alicia Martin for all her hard work across many years, we appreciate everything you did while steering the ship of Parent Club. We are excited to announce that Jen Toose has volunteered for the position for 2025 and will be supported by Alicia and many other families who are familiar with the position. We know our school can’t be as wonderful as it is without our amazing Parent’s Club and community volunteers so many thanks for all your hard work!
School Council Positions
This year, there are five positions to be nominated on our wonderful School Council, all of which are parent positions. Once School Council approves the timeline, the dates will be posted in the newsletter. We would encourage family members who are interested to self-nominate when the forms are posted. Each member brings their own valuable life skills and knowledge to the role. However, councillors may need to develop skills and acquire knowledge in areas that are unfamiliar to them. It is important to have an interest in your child’s school and the desire to work in partnership with others to help shape the school’s future.
3-6 Campaspe Downs Camp
The camp will be from Wednesday, August 20th to Friday, August 22nd. A uEducateUs permission note will be created this term, if your child intends on going, please give permission as soon as the note is created. This note will also contain more information about the camp.
Out of School Hours Care- OSHC Adventures
We are fortunate to have received a grant to run OHSC program out of the old school building. This funding will ensure this program can operate for 2025 however to continue having the program run, we must have more students use this service over 2025. Ideally, we would love to see a minimum of eight students using the service per night.
Our wonderful OSHC teacher, Hayley, does a brilliant job with our after-school care program. We are encouraging all families to jump online and sign up, regardless of if you are planning to use it, just in case your child needs after school care. While the process does not take too long, it would ensure that if anything does pop up, your child can be place in after school care.
Please note that classroom teachers have duty of care until 3:30PM on school days and cannot provide supervision for students after this time.
Parent Parking Across the Road
When parking at school, please do not park near the business entrance for RV Power across the road. The business works on campervans and large vehicles and must have a wide turning circle for these vehicles to enter so please ensure that adequate room is left either side of their driveway.
Positive Acknowledgement (PA) Cards
Rewards are important for building a predictable, positive social culture in a school. Schools with clearly defined behavioural expectations, and formal strategies for acknowledging (rewarding) appropriate behaviours, are perceived as safer, more effective learning environments. When teachers acknowledge expected behaviours, they provide students with a ‘PA card’ in line with the value they represented. If you child mentions they have received a PA card, please ask them about the value they demonstrated and what specific behaviour as this will help re-enforce our PA system. Once your child reaches 20 PA cards, you will receive an email, inviting your family to an assembly to celebrate your child’s achievement.
Hair Ties
Please ensure that if your child has hair that touches the shoulder it is tied back with a hair tie. This will help us prevent the spread of nits.
