Week 9
Thank you, Eppalock Primary School
As my time as acting principal at Eppalock Primary comes to an end, I want to take a moment to thank this wonderful community.
It has been an absolute privilege to work alongside such incredible students, staff, and families. I have loved every moment, whether it was seeing the smiles each morning, being ‘spied on’ in the yard at recess and lunch, or watching the amazing learning happening in classrooms each day. This school truly is a special place, and I will absolutely cherish the many memories we’ve made together.
While it’s a little sad to be signing off, I know you will give a warm welcome back to Mr. King. I’m certain he is excited to return and see you all again.
Thank you again for your support, kindness, and the sense of community that makes Eppalock Primary so unique. It’s been a pleasure to be part of your journey.
Tree planting day
Another successful tree planting day for 2025. Thanks to all who came along to support and volunteer on the day. The students planted 500 indigenous plants. Thanks to bushco, Strathfieldsaye streams and land group and of course Bendigo Toyota.
HDFNL clean up
Thanks to those we came along on Sunday to help clean up after the HDFNL grand final. Many hands make light work and it is a great fundraiser for the school.
Emergency evacuation
Last week we practised an off site evacuation (behind CFA building). I want to acknowledge how efficient the students were. Moving from their classrooms to all being seated and ticked off within 4 minutes.
Parent opinion survey
Reminder to please complete the parent opinion survey. Currently we have 24% completion. We would love to increase that to at least 30%. If you could please spare 15-20 minutes to complete this is would amazing. Link and pin to access the survey was sent via ueducateus.
End of term
Reminder Friday is the last day of term (Friday 19th). The amazing deck performance on Friday at 1pm followed by a 1:30pm pick up.
Mr Barri’s riddle of the week

P/1- Gunner.H - Gunner has been making positive choices in the classroom, trying his best to follow instructions. Gunner has shown kindness to his peers, checking on others if they are hurt and including peers when playing.
2/3/4- Ruby.F - Ruby has presented an amazing report this week and has been working hard on it all term.
4/5/6- Houston.P - Houston has been working hard all term when organising and running the PLAY program for our school on Friday afternoons. He shows strong leadership skills and ensures everyone is able to enjoy the activities and actively participate.

Hi All,
The kids are well and truly settled in and ready for an exciting final term for 2025!
In wellbeing, the classrooms are diving back into Respectful Relationships, and are focusing on Positive Coping, where students develop language around coping, critically reflect on their coping and strategies and extend their repertoire of positive coping strategies.
While we have moved on from Friendology this term, we will revisit some components throughout the term, and when the need arises. We encourage families to do the same! A great one to know and to talk about is Friendship Fires: those little disagreements that can be normal in a healthy friendship (even as adults!). Grades 2-6 have explored this, and use this language often to talk about conflicts that happen in the yard.
You can read a great blog post about it here:
https://urstrong.com/resource/friendship-fire-or-mean-on-purpose/
There is also a fantastic visual that explains some strategies for Friendship Fires and Mean on Purpose:

Until next time!
Kellie
