Term 2, Week 1, 2026

FROM THE PRINCIPAL - TERM 2, WEEK 1, 2026

Start of Term

Welcome back to Term Two at EPS. We hope all families had a wonderful break and enjoyed the Easter holidays. The weather feels like it is slowly starting to turn so hopefully your families enjoyed some of the sunshine.

Thank You EPS Community

Over the holidays, our community ran our Easter BBQ and this was done in true EPS spirit. Numerous families and extended families were involved on the day and it was a huge success. A big thank you to the following community members and their families:

  • Tim and Cait Arnold and their extended family, including Jenny, Peter, Steve and Kerri Anne
  • Simon Doherty
  • Alicia and Chris Martin
  • Kelly Nunns
  • Kate Finegan
  • Adam O’Neil
  • Chris Magilton
  • Damien Jones and his daughter Rose, and Bobbie’s parents, Colin and Heather
  • Kevin Reade, Amy Haw and Sarah Haw.

Thank you to all these people and their families that turned up on the day to make the BBQ a massive success. The estimated money raised is around $5600 which will be used strategically in parallel with our 5-year plan.

On The Deck Reflection

An amazing last Friday of Term One saw many talents of EPS display their skills in another epic On The Deck performance. Thanks to Tan for all your hard work in this space and well done to all those who performed! It is great to see students confidence grow and in this area, events like these not only bring our community together, but also provide great avenues for students to learn and develop!

Grounds Update

The school has had considerable work done over the holidays. The Art Shed cannot be used as they are painting internal walls tomorrow and hopefully getting all the weatherboards done this week. We are still waiting on some water tanks to arrive and the grass to grow on the oval but overall the progress is tracking positively. We acknowledge the disruption that this has caused however the school is starting to look fantastic!

I would like to thank and recognise Tim Arnold for his work over the holidays with our basketball court area. Tim installed lighting to the basketball court area which will allow the court to be used at night time in the future. Also, thanks to Kevin Reade and who volunteered helping in numerous ways as well, such as moving the cubby and some other aspects of school. I’d also like to recognise Alicia Martin who volunteered time here at school.

Rebound Wall

The rebound wall has gone in. They installed the wrong size and the new wall should arrive soon.

ANZAC Day Ceremony at EPS

This Friday after our normal assembly, our student leaders are leading an ANZAC Day ceremony here in the Serenity Garden. This is a community event, so if you are free and would like to pop in, please feel free.

Hats

Hats are still required until the Friday the 1st of May, in Week Two.

ANZAC Day Ceremony at Shrine of Remembrance

On Tuesday, the 5th of May, our student leaders and Mr King are headed to Melbourne for the ANZAC Day Ceremony. We look forward to hearing from the school captains about this wonderful experience next week.

Friday May 1st- Mother’s Day Brekkie

Our annual Mother’s Day Brekkie will take place here at school in the old school building. Please see the Parent Club report for more information.

Athletics with Axedale Primary School- Parent Volunteers Needed

On Friday the 8th, we are headed to the Flora Hill Athletics track for our annual Athletics day. On the day, students will travel to the event via a bus (departing from EPS at 9AM) however we ask that families arrange for their child to be picked up from Flora Hill on the day. The day should finish around 1:30PM.

If families can volunteer to take a group for the entire day, please contact Andrew King on 5439 6366. We need families to volunteer to help manage an event alongside an EPS teacher.

Pie Warmer Wednesdays

Our pie warmer returns next week. On Wednesdays, students can bring along a lunch that can be heated in our pie warmer. Please ensure that the food is wrapped in aluminium foil and clearly named.

Special Person Morning Tea and 2026 Open Day- Friday May 15th

On Friday the 15th of May from 9-11, we will be having our Special Person Morning Tea and our Open Day. On the day, there will be a very brief assembly which will be followed by activities in all three classrooms. We ask all families to bring along a plate of food to share (please list all the ingredients) and we will have a shared morning tea from 10:30-10:55AM. This is a great opportunity to catch up with families and friends and support the school community, all whilst sharing a great morning tea!

School Photos

On Thursday the 23rd of April, we have our school photos. Please make sure that students come to school in complete school uniform and looking sharp!

If you would like to have your business displayed here or would like to update your business details, please call or email the school

These checks are free for Volunteers.  PLEASE CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR WWCC IS CURRENT AND THAT WE HAVE A COPY OF IT HERE AT THE SCHOOL.  I HAVE JUST UPDATED OUR FILES AND WE HAVE A LOT THAT ARE NO LONGER CURRENT GOING BY OUR RECORDS.

Please remember that you cannot help out with any school activities unless you have a current WWCC

CEPA Farm Supplies Rewards Program 2026

Join the CEPA Community Rewards Program

EPS is excited to be part of the CEPA Community Rewards Program, a simple way for families to support our school while they shop.

CEPA Farm Supplies is a local Bendigo cooperative that supports community organisations like ours.

How It Works

  1. Register for the CEPA Community Rewards Program
  2. Nominate Eppalock Primary School as the organisation you support
  3. Shop at CEPA Farm Supplies
  4. CEPA donates a percentage of your purchases back to our school

It’s an easy way to help raise funds for our school at no extra cost to families.

Funds Raised Help Support

  • Student learning resources
    • School programs and activities
    • Improvements to school facilities
    • Community events

Why It Matters
