Term 4 Week 7 2023

FROM THE PRINCIPLE Term 4 Week 7 2023

School Captains- Phoenix FM

This week a former teacher, John Pearce, will be coming to EPS to have a chat with our school captains about their leadership journey. John, Daisy and Annika are meeting this Thursday to prepare and discuss topics they will be talking about this Friday on the radio. The captains will be speaking to John on Phoenix FM (106.7FM) this Friday the 17th from 1-2 PM. Make sure you are tuned in to hear what the captains have to say.

Gymnastics

We were successful in receiving a Sporting Schools grant for this term and have booked in gymnastics at Palmer’s Gym in Bendigo. This will be taking place from Monday, December 4th to Thursday the 7th. There will be no cost to families for this event and permission notes can be found on uEducateUs from Tuesday the 7th of November. Please ensure that students come to school with a water bottle and extra food on these days.

PA Cards

Two weeks and the results have been marvellous, we are now sitting on 70 Positive Acknowledgement Cards! This has been great to see in action and the students have been appreciating the immediate impact the new PA card system is having.

Swimming Refund

As we have received official confirmation regarding the cancellation of our swimming lessons, we will be refunding families this week.

2024 Enrolment Changes

2024 is just around the corner and we are asking families to provide any changes in student enrolment information to the school as soon as possible.

2024 Staffing

We have finalised our staffing profile and look forward to sharing this with the community once we are able to.

Covid Update

We have had a few school members test positive to Covid recently. We would like to remind families to please keep children home if they are presenting with cold and flu-like symptoms. If students test positive, it is recommended that they stay home for 5 days.

P-2 Classroom

Gina Sandwith will have her final day at EPS on Friday the 17th of November. For the final 4 and ½ weeks, Lydia and Anne Hartney will be working in the classroom. Lydia will be the classroom teacher on Mondays and Tuesday, while Anne will be in from Wednesday to Friday.

2024 Parent Payment

Our Parent Payment supports the school to provide our students with a wide range of educational opportunities and programs.  Payment can be made through the Our School Connect platform from now onwards.

2024 Booklists

Booklists for next year have been sent home in a paper format as well as a post in uEducateUs. Orders need to be placed by Dec 8th or a $15 delivery fee will be charged.

Our new after school care providers, OSHC Adventures, have opened their doors for after school care. We encourage all families to enrol their children into the program as this process can take a bit of time. Enrolments can be completed online at:

Working With Children Check

The Working with Children Check is a screening process for assessing or re-assessing people who work with or care for children in Victoria.

At Eppalock PS we require any volunteers to have a current WWCC.

These checks are free for Volunteers.
PLEASE CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR WWCC IS CURRENT AND THAT WE HAVE A COPY OF IT HERE AT THE SCHOOL.  I HAVE JUST UPDATED OUR FILES AND WE HAVE A LOT THAT ARE NO LONGER CURRENT GOING BY OUR RECORDS.

Please remember that you cannot help out with any school activities unless you have a current WWCC

Please follow this link to apply for a WWCC

Photography fundraiser

Fundraiser Cancelled

It is with regret that I write to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel our School Photo Fundraiser.

Eppalock Primary School will no longer be running the Chris Epworth Photography sessions 2023.

Unfortunately we just could not get enough bookings on either date proposed to make the event still viable.

We have spoken with Chris Epworth, the Photographer, and he will arrange for everyone to receive their paid booking fee refunded in full. This should occur over the coming couple of weeks.

I will make contact with everyone in about 3-weeks time to make sure that you have each received your full refund money. If you have any questions though in the meantime,  please don't hesitate to email or contact me on: 0418 390 824and I'll follow up.

On behalf of the School, I want to say a HUGE thank you for supporting this fundraiser. It has been a fantastic event in planning, that branched out well into our local community, so I'm disappointed that we were not able to bring it to fruition. Thank you.

We'll stay in touch though and bring you many more wonderful Eppalock PS fundraising opportunities.
