Term 2 SWPBS Focus - Resilience
Kindness, Responsibility, Resilience.
School Vision:
Our school’s vision is to prepare young people to become active, engaged and responsible citizens of the local and global community.
Week 5 Term 3 2022
It was great to have Lydia back this week and taking sessions in our classes again. The students were excited to have her back and quickly engaged in the activities she had planned for Living Green and STEM. Lydia takes Living Green Sessions on Wednesday and STEM sessions on Thursday. She will also resume some ART sessions on Tuesday’s or Friday’s for the remainder of the term.
Mr McCartney will be away from school for a few weeks. He will be missed. Miss Jordon Hivon will be replacing Mr Mc while he is away. Jordon has worked at Eppalock PS as a CRT in the past and does a great job. She knows the students well already which will help with a smooth transition into the room. Regular staff will be supporting Jordon in her role during this time and will assist with school-home communication. If you have any teaching and learning questions during this time, please give Jordon a call at school. Absences can still be recorded on educateus, in diaries, or by calling the school. Mr O’Neill will be covering the class on a Friday as usual.
Some special events coming up include; the Music is Fun day on Friday August 26th. Tree planting day on Friday 2nd September, Bookweek Dress up day on Wednesday September 7th and we also have another excursion to Melbourne on 15th September. Grade 3/4 and Grade 5/6 also have their Positive Start Camps in the next couple of weeks. Keep an eye out for information about these days as well as educateus permission forms.
Over the past few weeks I have included some information about Duty of Care in the newsletter. Please keep this in mind when dropping off students in the morning and picking them up in the afternoon. Students dropped off too early in the morning are not supervised in the yard until 8:45am. This is important to remember for Child Safe purposes. Please contact the school if you ever need any support in the morning or afternoons. Don’t forget that our After School Care operates from 3:15pm-6:00pm each day for any family to use. Breakfast Club will only operate on mornings that are advertised.
Our Disco jar is almost full so it looks like we may be having a whole school disco as a reward for showing regular and consistent school values. Students are working really hard to show our school values at school and are beginning to have a greater understanding of School Wide Positive Behaviours. On current form, we may be organising an event towards the end of the term.
When students receive a Positive Acknowledgement Card (PA Card) they take it to Mr O for him to record on their individual sheets. They receive a pom pom to put into the school reward jars and then take their PA card home to show families. Once students get to 10 individual PA cards they will receive a small individual reward. We almost have some students getting to that first milestone of 10 cards.
Reminders
Our Patch
Don’t forget to use the After School Care program here at school. You don’t have to be a regular and consistent user. Casual use is encouraged. Our Patch offer specialist sessions with activities like Yoga and Dancing from time to time as well. We have regular supervisors in place and all students attending seem to be having a great time. Child Care subsidy applies if you are eligible. Contact the school if you have any questions.
Camps coming up
Our 3/4 and 5/6 camps through the Positive Start program are coming up soon. Students in these groups have been given a medical form to fill out and return. It is a requirement of camps to have up to date medical forms and any current dietary requirements. Please return these as soon as you can so that final arrangements for camp to take place.
Miss Sherwell and Mr O’Neill will attend the 3/4 camp to Campaspe Downs.
Mr McCartney, Lydia and Chris will be staff attending the 5/6 camp to Halls Gap.
HDFL Clean up
A reminder that for the Camp Wilkin Camp to Anglesea we are looking for ways to reduce overall cost to families. If you can help with the HDFL clean up on September 4th please let us know. Any money raised for doing this clean up will go towards the cost of the camp.
School Items for removal
If you would like a large worm farm for your property please let us know. We have one at school that can be taken away. We still have some old awnings that can also be taken by a family if it suited.
